How Much Does Coaching Actually Cost?
If you’ve ever considered working with a coach, you’ve probably asked yourself: “How much does coaching actually cost?” Coaching is highly personal, and prices can vary widely—some charge per session (hundreds of dollars), others per outcome or result (many thousands). The good news is that you don’t need to spend at the top end to benefit; it’s almost always possible to find a coach who resonates with you and fits within your budget.
When I first tried coaching through sessions provided by the UN, the experience was unremarkable. Nothing shifted, and I left questioning whether coaching was valuable at all. It wasn’t until later, when I invested in high-quality coaching myself (and choose my own coach), that I realized how powerful it can be. That’s why finding someone who feels like the right fit is just as important as the price tag.
Some coaches publish their rates openly (as I do on my site), while others don’t. The best way to know is simply to ask. You might find that what could be a life-changing experience costs less—or not much more—than a weekend getaway. And with packages designed for short-term goals like interview prep or longer journeys of leadership, confidence, or career growth, coaching can be tailored to what matters most to you.
And here’s something I believe strongly: no one should ever feel pressured into coaching. A first conversation should feel natural—simply an exploration. You should walk away from an intro call feeling energized, reflective, and curious about the possibilities, not cornered into a decision. If the fit is right, continuing will feel obvious. If not, that initial chat may be all you need—and that’s perfectly fine too.
So, how much does coaching cost? The real question is: What is it worth to create the life and career you truly want? Coaching is not just an expense—it’s an investment in clarity, growth, and possibility.
